A series of smaller classic beach towns about 30-45 minutes north of downtown San Diego, mostly full of consistent beach breaks and a couple reefs. Oceanside to the north is ridable almost every day, and Swamis is the reef jewel of this stretch. Great family beaches throughout and the towns of Encinitas, Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-sea, and Solana Beach are about as quaint and laid back as they come.
