2-4 hour flight and your in Cabo! Hop on a plane, load up on supplies in San Jose del Cabo and surf before the sun goes down...it's a no brainer surf trip. All flights come into San Jose, then you head out to drive the coast until you reach your destination. Cabo San Lucas is about 30 minutes from San Jose. Costa Azul is where the prime surfing is and halfway between.View other properties in Southern Baja
Todos Santos is located on the Tropic of Cancer in the southern portion of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico just one hour north of Cabo San Lucas and one hour south of La Paz. Long known as a cultural, artistic and agricultural center, the town is a desert oasis, 1 kilometer from the Pacific Ocean at the foothills of the Sierra de La Laguna mountains. Since the mid 1980's, the area has become a tourist / retirement destination and home to numerous art galleries, artists, fine restaurants, elegant hotels, unique vacation rentals and local festivals. The waves get really good here and there are a couple of options.
San Pedrito is a rocky reef break for the intermediate/advanced short boarder. Best on a winter time NW swell from October-March. Be sure to bring booties, as the reef can cut your feet. There are beach rentals directly in front of the break too!
Part of the "Costa Azul" trio of breaks. Reef break that goes both left and right that tends to be a little more technical and steeper face than Old Man's. It can get dangerously shallow at low tide, so be careful of the rocks on the inside. For Nor Cal surfers, it's kinda like "The Patch" at Bolinas.
Also part of the Costa Azul trio of surfbreaks. Zippers is a Fast, hollow and high performance wave. More of a short board wave, not that you couldn't surf Zippers with a longboard. This is the home of the 2013 6 star Prime, Los Cabos Open! This will be an awesome event for sure! We love going to Cabo, the waves always seem to be fun, there is a ton of variety to surf and the food is good. Don't forget either, if its flat and you like to party- you came to the right place!
More of a desolate break, Nine Palms is kinda of a reef point, that is rocky bottom. Where shipwrecks is a sand point. It's mellow long board wave that can handle a bigger swell. Worth the drive out for a look if south swell is running. Less crowded and more spread out than Shipwrecks.
Also called "Acapulito" by the locals, Old Man's is part of the Costa Azul trio of breaks. It's a friendly beginner long board break which occasionally gets big during summer south swells. Cabo Surf hotel or Las Olas Condo's are your best bet to stay right by the break.
